Joint Health and Safety Committee Part II Certification - Industrial Environment

Course Description

This course has been designed to provide participants with an understanding of hazards commonly found in production, maintenance, or industrial workplaces.

Specific topics include:

equipment / machinery hazards
noise
traffic hazards from mobile equipment
work-at-height
industrial chemicals
hot work
indoor air quality
confined spaces
housekeeping
ergonomics

This course meets the mandated requirements set out by the Ontario Workplace Safety and Insurance Board’s (WSIB’s) Certification Training Program Standard.

Note: Joint Health and Safety Committee Member Certification is a 2-step process requiring successful completion of Part 1 (Basic) and Part 2 (Workplace-Specific or Sector-Specific Hazard Training). Employers of participants seeking Part 2 Certification are expected to conduct a hazard assessment to determine the "significant hazards" present at their workplace and to train prospective certified member in those hazards. Upon completion of training, participants must submit a completed copy of the Workplace Specific Hazard Training Confirmation Form (#3189A) to WSIB for final certification.

Intended Audience

Future certified members of Joint Health and Safety Committees in Ontario who work in any industrial environment or may encounter production, or maintenance related hazards.
